Apr 10, 2018Flewelling, 88, of Marblehead, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.He was born Jan. 29, 1930 in Ocqueoc, Mich., the son of Reginald and Mary (Smith) Flewelling.He married Ruth Monak on Jan. 27, 1951, and she survives. Harry is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard with four years of active duty and 34 years of reserve duty. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for 30 years; he was a charter boat captain; and he was a salesman and manager at Clemons Boats. He also owned and operated Flewelling Boat Storage. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 32nd Degree Mason (Scottish Rite), Shriners, and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. He was an avid wood worker, hunter, fisherman, golfer and enjoyed working in his rose garden.Surviving are his wife, Ruth; sisters, Faye Jankoviak of Ludington, Mich., Millie Stegemann of Two Rivers, Wisc.; sisters-in-law, Janice Timko of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Dorothy (Lew) Poggiali of West Chester, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Sophia Monak; brother, Reginald Flewelling Jr.; and sister, Connie Watson.Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Niedecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, with Parastas services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel. Interment with Coast Guard Honors will take place at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
